How They Met:

As told by Aubrey: We met in high school a long time ago – each of us were playing sports and we only crossed paths on the school bus on the way to our games. We never really knew each other then, but knew of each other.
In 2011, I (Aubrey) played softball at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Kayvon played baseball at Kansas State University. When we would come home from college for the holidays, we’d always see each other at the gym and catch up.

Kayvon graduated from Kansas State University in 2012 and was drafted by the Oakland A’s. His spring training was then in Phoenix and I had just moved home after graduating from UNCG. Kayvon was still preparing for his second professional season when we started working out together. He found it hard to find people to play catch with him and of course I loved doing it! It went from playing catch and working out, slowly to hanging out and watching movies. We just haven’t separated since! In 2014, Kayvon was offered the opportunity to coach baseball at his college (in Manhattan, Kansas!) while getting his MBA. He asked if I wanted to go and the rest is history!

The Proposal:

Kayvon knew for months that his family, and Aubrey’s family and grandparents would be coming for his graduation from grad school. The two have a French Bulldog named Bruce Wayne, that they just are in love with. Kayvon had Aubrey’s mom make him a shirt that says, “Mom, will you marry my dad?”

On the day, Aubrey was running around their apartment trying to clean up as they had company coming and staying with them Kayvon yelled to Aubrey to come into their office and look at Bruce. As soon as she figured out what the shirt said, and what was going on, Kayvon was on one knee. This instantly became Aubrey’s favorite day ever.
