Wedding Film Tip: Schedule Time During Your Photo Session For Your Cinematographer

If you haven’t noticed an underlying theme in some of my Wednesday Wedding Film Tips let me share that with you. The Photographer and Cinematographer relationship on your wedding day is a REALLY important one and can significantly impact the outcome of both your Photos and Wedding Film. So today’s tip is once again having to do with this interaction between the two…. Here goes…. Schedule time in your timeline for your Cinematographer to have time with you as a couple to get some footage. The photo shoot is always the Photographers time and we totally get that. We normally tag along and shoot alongside of them. We allow them to dictate that time because that is “their” time with the couple. We are totally cool with that and don’t interrupt during that time. We allow them to do their deal. Doesn’t it make sense though that if the Photographer gets time with you to get the shots that they need that the Cinematographer should get some time as well to get the shots we need? We don’t need nearly as much time, roughly about 15 minutes. Of course the Photographer is more than welcome to shoot alongside of us and partake. This time gives us the chance to get what we need for your wedding film without encroaching on the time the Photographer needs. The Photographer might appreciate this time as well to change our batteries, switch lenses or get a drink of water. So if the Photographer needs an hour great, give it then when they are done allow us fifteen minutes and that way everyone gets what they need and you get fabulous memories.
