How They Met

Jake and Jess met in a relatively ordinary fashion via a mutual connection. However, they consider what developed between them to be anything but ordinary and realize they’re extraordinarily lucky to have connected at such an opportune point in their lives.

Jake was at a bar in Denver (which he later found out is one of Jess’ favorite places) when he received a text message, “Hey, are you single?”…and a few seconds later, he was given Jess’ number and didn’t waste any time calling, but Jess was at dinner with girlfriends so she let it go to voicemail. Upon returning from dinner, and after plenty of social media stalking, she called Jake back.

Their nearly hour-long conversation left Jake happily surprised and thinking that Jess was different from anyone he had encountered up to that point. Jess also felt intrigued, but she wanted to ensure that the feeling wasn’t attributed to the couple of glasses of wine at dinner. She still decided to accept Jake’s invitation to meet.

The interested pair wound up eating outdoors at local restaurant (still a favorite of theirs), where they spent hours talking about their love of family & friends, new hotspots to eat & drink, live music, yoga & running & travel.

The proposal

It was a surprise! She did NOT see it coming. Jess and Jake had plans to go to dinner with Jake’s family for his birthday, but Jess didn’t know that this was a cover for what was to come! Jake came over to her house while she finished getting ready and what he didn’t know was that Jess was planning a surprise of her own – she had been running around all day to put the finishing touches on Jake’s surprise birthday present (a trip to D.C.) and was rushed and running behind.
Once Jake finally got her out the door of her place to head to “dinner”, the two started walking toward the car when Jess spotted the photographer Jake had set up in the parking lot. When Jess turned around to ask Jake what was going on, he was down on one knee. Jake proposed right outside Jess’s place, which is where he picked her up for their first date and also where they had their first kiss. Jess and Jake then went to the restaurant where both families and close friends were waiting to celebrate!

Aimee and Erik met in the fall of 2013 at the internet company, Cloudera’s San Francisco office. He was drawn in by her laugh, and as soon as he laid eyes on her, he knew he needed to know who she was. They had no idea at the time, that this would be the start of something special. This adventurous and outgoing couple connected quickly over a shared passion for country music.

Erik knew Aimee was someone that he wanted to spend more time with…. all he had to do was break through Aimee’s rule of not dating co-workers. Erik started small, asking Aimee to coffee, and after about 3 months of failed attempts finally got her to commit to dinner. It was actually Aimee’s mother who encouraged her to take a chance! Good job mom!

On their first date, Aimee challenged Erik to a dance off and he learned quickly that Aimee is not one to try to beat on the dance floor. They took a break and went outside for a moment which happened to be when they shared their first kiss on the sidewalk. They both laughed in excitement and knew that they didn’t even need a first date to fall in love.

Erik purposed on a rainy day in San Francisco. Erik had planned ahead and asked two of their good friends to come into the city and meet at a “new restaurant” (Aimee had no idea there was no real restaurant). As soon as their friends arrived, the rain stopped and Alex suggested everyone take a walk down to the Palace of Fine Arts. Once they arrived arrived at the Palace, their friend Alex asked the Erik and Amiee if we could all walk around and get some pictures… Erik handed Alex his phone and asked him if he could get one of him and Aimee. Aimee (having lived a block away when she first moved to SF) didn’t understand why they would want a photo, but when she turned to her right Erik was down on one knee!

I don’t post Highlight Films very often because people don’t have the attention span to watch them all the way through but I just had to share this one… I am head over heels for this wedding. The style of this wedding will make you swoon. So chic and hip. Jessica the bride is that girl you look at and say “I love her style. I could never rock that look but man is she so chic and sophisticated.” Her and Thomas’s wedding had so much flair and personality to it. It was uniquely awesome to them and that is what I loved to much about it!!

I don’t post Highlight Films very often but this one is my new favorite… It is full of emotion, beauty, details and fireworks. So I just had to share. The brides dress is stunning. It looks like it was custom designed for her. Heather and Matthew’s wedding was classic, elegant and timeless. they opted for a traditional color palette of white, ivory and black and the groom wore a traditional bow tie to this black tie affair. The day was magical for this couple and they loved every moment celebrating with their closes family and friends. They ended their celebration with a fireworks show that lit up the sky in opulent color.

What does a former Miss Arizona’s wedding look like… You guessed it… It glitters and sparkles with no detail left undone and its draped in fabulousness. From the blinged out bridesmaid dresses to the sequined linens this wedding will make you swoon.  What I loved most about this wedding was Brittany and Anthony’s interviews. I loved the passion they have for each other when they talk about one another. I loved their courtship and my favorite line of the entire film was said by Anthony about his beloved Brittany… He said “I love Brittany more than air”. How sweet is that…. I melt….

Does this beautiful bride look familiar??? She is the baby sister of Cicely of Life Design Event Planning.  Moriah and Joe got married on one of the coldest nights we had in December. Luckily there was enough love in the joint to warm everyone’s heart!! These two ooze respect and adoration for one another. Congratulations to the lovebirds!!

Megan and Kyle got married on the weekend where Phoenix saw record breaking rainfall and we pretty much had the storm of the century. Most brides would freak out and declare their wedding day ruined…. What did this couple do? They went out and bought super cute umbrellas for their photo shoot. Talk about making lemonade out of lemons!! They also happened to already have a tent for their outdoor reception which ended up coming quite in handy!! This couples attitude was incredible and they didn’t let a little rain…. Ok a lot of rain spoil the happiest day of their lives!!

When couples get really personal in their interviews is when we can do the very best job in telling their wedding day story. Ryan’s mom had passed away yet the couple made her presence and importance well known in their wedding day through their interviews. It was a beautiful tribute. Grab your tissues for this wedding film.

We love storytelling and that is the backbone of a Serendipity film. We love to do interviews with the couple and their family and friends and weave all of that together to create the perfect story of their wedding day. Molly and Rob’s film is a signature Serendipity wedding film with lots of interviews and sound from the day. We feel like the sound is what truly connects you to the moments. To hear peoples voices, thoughts and feelings on the wedding day is what is truly going to help you relive that day years from. Here is the story of Molly and Rob.
