Modern El Chorro Wedding

Hey there! It’s been a little while… We have been so busy wrapping up wedding season and getting some amazing wedding trailers sent to our incredible couples, we haven’t been around here too much. But summer is for catching up on all this pretty we have been capturing and we are so excited to kick it off with this beauty! We are sharing some fun modern vibes with you from Doug and Whitney’s emerald and gold wedding, right now!

the couple, proposal, & wedding:

How They Met:

Doug and Whitney met at work; they both work in the medical field. Doug and Whitney both thought the other was dating someone when they first met for quite some time. Before Whitney left to go back to Houston for Christmas she was sitting next to Doug at work and he was talking to his sister about “projector” Christmas lights… or what he likes to call “lazy man Christmas lights”. She had no idea what they were, but when she went to Houston she saw a house with them and text him a picture. Well the conversations never stopped and the rest is history.

The Proposal:

Doug was planning a surprise dinner for Whitney for her birthday and their one year anniversary. She had no idea where they were going, and ended up at the Sanctuary for dinner. As they were sat for dinner the waiter asked what they would like to drink and said something along the lines of, “since you are guests here at the hotel.” Whitney had no idea this was turning into a staycation and the waiter totally spoiled that surprise! Whitney laughs about it to this day.

Once they finished their dinner, Doug wanted to walk Whitney to their room. Before getting to the room he stopped at this look out point over looking the valley which was absolutely breath taking to both Doug and Whitney. They sat there for a few minutes, and that’s when Doug proposed. They both still don’t remember what he said, but it was such a perfect moment for the two of them. After the proposal they went to their room where they had a nice bottle of champagne waiting to be popped and celebrate!

After a sip of champagne in the room, a driver came to pick them both up for another surprise. He drove them to the W Hotel in Scottsdale where all their friends and family were waiting for them. Doug had contacted Whitney’s family who don’t live in town and told them he was surprising her for her birthday and they had to be there, but no one knew this was going to be a birthday and engagement party. They walked in and everyone was singing “Happy Birthday” to Whitney. Her cousin saw her engagement ring and started screaming. The rest of the night was perfect and incredible sharing the moment with family and close friends.

The Wedding:

Doug and Whitney’s wedding was so much fun! The morning started out in the El Chorro bridal suite with Whitney and her five gorgeous bridesmaids all in stunning sequin black dresses. Her mom and maid of honor helped Whitney get into her whimsical Mira Zwillinger bridal gown. The ceremony was full of pure love and commitment as they said their vows to one another and then transitioned into the most epic dance party.

It wasn’t your typical reception set up, in fact they had their reception space filled with fun lounge furniture and tables. (Ahhh! Such a fun thing to capture for us!) It was a huge party all night, and the whole wedding perfectly replicated their personalities. Their sweet enduring love for one another, and the spontaneous fun side as well. We loved capturing their first few moments as husband and wife and couldn’t feel more honored. Thank you Mr. & Mrs. Werner, we wish you a lifetime of happiness and good times.

Fairytale Desert Mountain Wedding | Arizona Videographer

When we walked into the bridal suite the morning of Jake & Jordan’s wedding and saw her Hayley Paige dress hanging so delicately on the wooden doors, we knew it was going to be such a beautiful day. Jordan had this energy about her, and the love she had for Jake was undeniable. She knew he was the one and there were no doubts about it. The connection and love these two share for one another is so deep, we felt so honored capturing their special day. Read more about how they met, the proposal, and wedding details below:

The Couple, Proposal, & Wedding:

How They Met:

Jake and Jordan met at a San Diego State University Event. Jordan was on the dance team and Jake recently transferred from University of Oregon to play football. That evening at the event, Jake asked another player on the team if Jordan was single. After the event everyone gathered for food and mingling. Jake decided to make a move and stole the pom poms right out of Jordan’s hand’s. He started dancing around with them and got her number shortly after. That night Jake basically made a huge scene in front of both teams, but it stole Jordan’s heart right away! So we would say it was worth it!

The Proposal:

This day took place in St. Helena, a sleepy town in Napa Valley were Jake and Jordan lived for a short period of time. That morning, Jake left a bag of breakfast, fresh flowers, and a handmade book with instructions for the entire day on their bed. He first sent Jordan to the local coffee shop where he pre-paid for her order and told her to also get a sugary pastry. Which he knew she would have never ordered before. After Jordan finished eating her sweet treat and enjoyed the morning at the coffee shop, Jake had her go to the firehouse where he worked. Once she arrived here he had her write in this small bible that he kept in his jacket to always keep him safe.

In his jacket, Jake also left her some money with another note and told her to go buy an outfit for the night and to be ready by 4:00 PM. She drove to the town of Napa and picked out a dress. Then drove back to their home and got ready for the rest of the evening. Jake picked up Jordan that evening from their home and drove her to Trinchero Family Estates. They entered the estates from the back and walked down these steps to a beautiful grassy area with romantic string lights overhead. Their view was of the gorgeous Mount St. Helena.

Once they settled in Jake spoke some words and then said, “before I ask you a question I have one more surprise.” Jordan’s best friend, who is also a photographer, popped out of the bushes! Jordan couldnt believe it. Jake then got down on one knee and proposed to Jordan! They all got to celebrate at the winery and take pictures in the library. After photos, they continued the celebration at a local restaurant with amazing food and ended the night with ice cream shakes.

The Wedding:

Jake & Jordan’s wedding is one that will be stuck in our head for years to come! Their bridal party was very intimate and perfect for the two of them! They each had their one very best friend stand next to them that made up their bridal party, Jake’s son was his Best Man and Jordan’s best friend Caroline was her Maid of Honor. Jake and Jordan opted out of a first look and we just loved their alternative. They decided to meet next to a wall and join hands as a way to ease the nerves. It was the sweetest moment as they swapped letters and smiles radiated from the two of them.

The Desert Mountain Venue was the perfect location with the most stunning backdrop for Jake and Jordan’s bridal portraits, check out their sweet photos from Jennifer Bowen below (and their wedding trailer by us of course!) The decor was simple, yet elegant, with eucalyptus leaves, blush spray roses, and mixed metal accents. They ended the night with the most epic dance party and a sparkler exit straight out of a fairy tale as Jordan ran with her Hayley Paige dress flowing in the wind. We wish we could relive their wedding day every weekend!

My Top Three Vendor Must Haves | Arizona Vendors

Hi there! Hope you’ve been spending the new year with good company and big goals. We’ve missed you over here. We have had many big changes and we’re ready for a new year with consistent blogging, incredible weddings, and loving couples. We are already up to over 50 weddings and still booking for this season! So if you were one of those lucky gals or guys that got engaged over the holidays, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Trust me, I know all about popular wedding dates. I am a recent bride of Serendipity Cinematography and have been married for almost two months now! November 11, 2017 is when I tied the knot and getting vendors booked for this day seemed to be tricky. (I mean we did choose, 11.11.. what were we thinking?) So that is why I am sharing with you today, our top three vendors that were a must have and that we booked first! Are you recently engaged? Get to booking these vendors because they get busy, quick! If you have your eye on a specific vendor, it’s better to be safe than sorry. Want to check out my wedding and vendors at the gorgeous Paseo? Click here!

When my husband and I got engaged, we sat down and prioritized our budget and determined what was most important to us. We put a lot of thought into this. We thought about after the fairy tale day and we determined that the film and photos is what you will have to look back on for the rest of your lives together. Easily our top two choices were a videographer and photographer. These were the two people that would capture our day for us to look back on. We will get to reminiscence about our day with our children, grandchildren, and maybe even great grandchildren one day.

We got a lot of questions from family and friends, asking why a videographer was so important to us? A lot of them would say things like, “I haven’t watched my wedding video since the day we got it” or “It’s not that exciting to watch anyways, why spend the money on it?” Well first off, wedding videos aren’t like they used to be. They are films now, a full on gorgeous production of your day. Good bye to the wedding videos of just a long ceremony, first dance, and bad audio. These are hand crafted films of an overview of your entire day from getting ready with your girl friends, interviews of you and your fiance, to the first time he see’s you in your wedding gown, the ceremony, your first dance, and the party that ends the night!

When deciding we didn’t even think twice about booking a videographer. When you really think about it, if you don’t have a videographer there who is going to capture your personal vows and they way you say them to each other on your wedding day? The interview of your parents and grandparents? The toasts from your very best friends? The emotion and words spoken during your first look? You can never get those words, the emotion, and the sound behind them without a videographer there to capture it.

Now we needed one more vendor. This also came pretty easy to us. I am naturally very OCD and Type A. Having someone that could handle our day with the same vision as us was very important. I kept thinking to myself, do I want to spend the one day of my life marrying my best friend worried about where the florist will place the florals on the arch? How the table seating arrangements will get done? And how my bridal party will make it down the aisle flawlessly? No! I didn’t want to worry about one bit of it.

For us a Day Of Coordinator, was the perfect choice. I have had a lot of experience with weddings by working with Serendipity and planning with Pinterest made it super fun. (I mean how did anyone plan a wedding before it!?) I also purchased an Erin Condren planner to help me pace out when everything needed to be completed. But man oh man, is a Coordinator worth it! Planning a wedding is a ton of work. I give all the props to the Planners out there making these magical weddings happen!

There you have it! My top three vendor must haves. Do you have a top three? Comment below and let me know about them!

The Paseo at Superstition Mountain Wedding | Videographer Phoenix

How They Met:

Landon and Paige met almost nine years ago while they were both in high school working at their first job at Harkins Theaters at SanTan Mall. They were both in different places in their lives and young as they were not looking for anything serious. Paige talks about how she noticed Landon with his “Justin Bieber” hair cut and that she thought he was just the cutest. Landon says Paige caught his eye as very beautiful and he wanted to get to know her more. It wasn’t until about 2 years after working with each other that Landon and Paige’s friendship turned into something more.

Their first official date was on the 4th of July 2011. They went with some friends to tumbleweed park and watched the fireworks. After the firework show the traffic leaving was pretty bad. Paige decided to get out of the car and direct traffic herself to get them out of there. Landon said at that point he knew, and fell in love with her strong independent personality. Over the next six years Landon and Paige would move out together, adopt their fur baby Dash, and start living their lives as one.

The Proposal:

Landon and Paige formed a bond over Disney during their trip for her 18th birthday. Ever since that first trip, that has been “their place”. They go there to celebrate promotions, graduations, birthdays, anniversary’s, or even just a quick weekend trip because that week was just to much adulthood to handle. Landon knew that Paige had always dreamed of being proposed to at Disneyland since she was a little girl. Being the awesome guy he is, he knew he had to make that happen one way or another. So then the planning began.

Landon started ring shopping for Paige in September of 2015. Two stores later with his Mom, Sister, and Dad and he found “the one”. They planned a trip to Disneyland for Thanksgiving weekend of 2015. They arrived at the hotel the evening before Thanksgiving and went straight to sleep. The next morning while Paige was getting ready in the bathroom, Landon went into the luggage to grab the ring he stashed in a pocket. Paige rarely goes in that pocket, but his heart sank when he found that Paige placed something in that pocket the night before and thought she found the ring. He played it off and tried not to worry about it on their way to the park. All the while Paige was checking pockets to see if it was going to happen this trip as they had been talking about it lately. She didn’t see any ring boxes in his pockets so she forgot about it and started planning out their day.

When they arrived at the park Paige suggested that they head straight to the castle for a picture since the park seemed empty that morning. Landon agreed without hesitation. When they arrived and it was their turn for a picture, Landon took a little longer than normal to hand his phone to the photographer. Paige thought nothing of it until Landon walked over to stand with her for a photo and she could basically feel his heart pounding out of his chest. Landon then got down on one knee and asked Paige to marry him.. the rest is history! They celebrated by face-timing all their closest friends and family, and eating Mickey Waffles at their favorite restaurant, The Carnation Cafe. Landon had made a reservation weeks before to make sure it was the perfect day, and it was.

The Wedding:

Oh this wedding was one for the books! Such a gorgeous day that we were so excited to be apart of. This wedding was close to our hearts as the Bride is one of our cinematographers! Paige designed and planned the whole day and it was a fairy tale fit for a princess. The day started out at The Courtyard Marriott in Mesa were they both got ready. Harley Ann Artistry and Infinite Artistry rocked it out. They dolled up all the girls and got them ready for Monique Hessler Photography and us to capture some special moments. After they were done getting ready they headed to The Paseo for Paige’s first looks. Yes we said looks, with her Dad, Brother, and of course Landon! (You have to watch the Same Day Edit to see the sweet tears from him! Oh how he loves her!) We captured some beautiful moments in front of the gorgeous reception hall at The Paseo. Then later that evening in the desert we captured some magic of the couple during sunset, and that was dreamy. Then came reception and the most perfect sparkler exit to end the night.

The maroon, navy, and blush color palette worked so well with the gorgeous backdrop of the superstition mountains and the loose greenery throughout the reception decor. Her bridesmaids pulled off the mixed dresses so well and some even included some rose gold sparkle we can’t get over! The boys all rocked a navy tux with maroon bow ties and brown shoes. The whole wedding came together so beautifully and we are still in awe of the day.

How They Met:
Brittany and Justin met in college, during their freshman year at Arizona State University. They met through mutual friends and they all hung out in the same dorm. They also had the mutual bond of being Greek as they were both in a sorority and fraternity.

The first two years Justin and Brittany became very close friends. Eventually, they realized it was a lot more than a friendship that they shared. It was then towards the end of their sophomore year that a relationship began.

It has been a long journey ever since and they have endured all of life’s transitions since graduating from college. They even ended up breaking up for a year, but always knew they were meant to be together in the end. These two have been together for a total of 8 years and friends for 10 years.

The Proposal:
Brittany and Justin love to hike and work out! Justin took Brittany out for a surprise hike up Camelback Mountain at 6 am (in the pitch dark) to get to the top just in time for sunrise! Justin bent down on one knee, looking as if he was getting a water bottle out of his backpack, but really it was a ring! It was absolutely perfect Brittany says, and he also filmed it on his GoPro that was attached to his head!

The Wedding:
Brittany and Justin were married at the stunning El Chorro venue. Their color palette of blush, gold, and ivory complemented the picturesque location perfectly. We are a huge fan of anything that glitters so of course, we LOVED the bridesmaids dresses Brittany choose for her girls, as well as all the linens and decor that also were filled with sequins.

Their perfect day started out in an elaborate Orthodox Church and ended in a romantic outdoor reception.

How They Met:

Karysnn and Brian met online. It was Brian’s profile photo of him standing in front of a tractor that stood out to Karysnn initially. She then read that he was tall, 6’5 to be exact and she knew she had to send him a message.

When Brian picked her up for their first date. He knew she was the one as soon as she started walking towards him. He couldn’t take his eyes off her black and white dress, and her beautiful blonde hair flowing in the wind. Sounds like love ask first sight if you ask us!

They had planned to go to a movie, but instead found themselves talking and listening to music in the parking lot of the movie theater. Totally missing the movie but enjoying every moment. Since their first date they have spent nearly everyday since together.

The Wedding:

As you watch Karysnn and Brian, you can just see how much fun they have together. Their entire wedding, and we assume in life they are just smiling, laughing and truly enjoying each other. You can tell that they are really best friends, and that is what life and marriage is all about.

We are obsessed with the color pallet of this wedding. The floral is stunning. We love the mix of the blush pinks, with magenta, and purple. It just feels so girly and pretty.

Karsynn’s dress is of course stunning and perfect for her. It’s a chiffon a-line that just makes her look like a princess. The wrapped bodice is so flattering and the hint of sparkle around her waist completes the look.

The bridesmaids dresses are perfect and unique. We love the two toned dresses and feel that the style really compliments each of the ladies she choose to stand with her on this special day.

Classic Wedding at The Boulders | Videographer Phoenix

Classic Wedding at The Boulders | Videographer Phoenix

How they met:

Chris was absolutely determined to meet Bre. He had seen pictures, heard from friends what an amazing person she is and was on a mission! His numerous attempts to meet her came up empty handed and had basically given up all hope.

The very next week after resigning to the fact it was not meant to be, Chris and his friends gathered to go out for dinner. It was Valentine’s Day, and after dinner with a few of his guy friends, Chris was coerced into going to a lounge called the Dakota. Wanting to just go home and mope, Chris agreed to drop his friends off and hang out with them there for a little bit.

They promptly sat down at a table near the bar, and it was not long before Chris’s friend said to him…”you know that girl Bre you have been asking everyone in town about, well she is 5 feet behind you standing at the bar.”

Instant butterflies! Chris turned around and within seconds, their eyes locked. One of those long, deep, mutual stares that overwhelm you. They both glanced away as to not seem overly obvious. Moments later, they turned to each other again, eyes locking once more.

Soon the two started talking. Chris couldn’t tell you what they talked about for those next 45 minutes, as he was consumed by her beauty and bubbly personality. During that time, however, she invited him to a work event, and that was the perfect opportunity to get her number, FINALLY!

The Proposal:

Their engagement was under the guise of a “birthday road trip” down the coast of California for Bre. The couple flew into San Francisco on a Wednesday, rented a car and drove down to Carmel, which was our first stop on a 5-night trip. We stayed the night in Carmel at a beautiful boutique hotel called La Playa Carmel.

Bre’s birthday fell on a Saturday…night four of our little vacation. Chris thought that if Bre had any expectation of a proposal on this trip, that she MIGHT expect it on her birthday. Thus, he was determined to propose on the very first night.

Chris had made a sunset dinner reservation at an exquisite restaurant called The Pacific’s Edge, complete with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. On the way to the restaurant, Chris voiced to Bre that his parents had mentioned to him a beautiful park they should check out called Point Lobos State Park.

Little did Bre know that Chris had picked out a location to pop the question, the only problem was…he, nor his parents, had actually ever been to Point Lobos before! Well, Chris had honed in on Point Lobos State Park via Google Earth, however, he would quickly find out that pinpointing THE spot would prove a bit more challenging than he imagined.

Bre, of course, was dressed to the nines and…wearing heels. Not ideal shoes to be wearing on a dirt trail. Chris began to stress a bit as there was no ideal spot in sight…the trail seemed endless with no viewpoint! After (violently) shaking the rocks out of her heels for the umpteenth time, Bre made it apparent that there better be an end to this trail in sight. Chris jogged ahead and, by the grace of God, found THE spot!

Chris got down on one knee, behind Bre, as she was snapping pictures. She then started walking away, and Chris started to follow behind her, dragging his knee along as well!

Finally he grabbed her arm, stopped her, turned her around, and saw the look of utter surprise and joy in her eyes as he proceeded to tell her that when he looked out into the ocean, he saw endless possibilities…a blank canvas, uncharted waters, adventures, peaks and valleys of a life that he could not imagine spending without his one true love, the love of his life.

Desert Romance Wedding at the Ritz | Videographer Phoenix

Desert Romance Wedding at the Ritz | Videographer Phoenix

How they Met:

It was freshman year of college, 2004 when Chris and Nicole first met. A mutual friend introduced them and Chris would never forget Nicole’s very unique way of holding a pen to write. From that moment on Chris and Nicole became great friends, and along with Nicole came six plus other girlfriends. Let’s just say Chris instantly became a ladies man.

Through the next 16 months, their friendship continued to grow stronger. Sophomore year of college, Chris, Nicole and a couple friends headed up to Santa Barbara to celebrate Halloween. With nowhere to sleep, and temperatures dropping Chris and Nicole opted for the floor of a college house where they snuggled throughout the night for warmth. It was that next morning, on their drive back to LA when Nicole and Chris locked eyes in the rearview mirror and instantly knew this was more than a friendship. Chris sealed the deal the next day, October 31st, 2005 at a club in Hollywood, with a big kiss.

11 years later, on January 16th, 2016, Chris decided to make things official and ask Nicole to marry him. Off course she said yes and here we are today.

The Proposal:

The proposal was a complete surprise. Nicole had no idea it was going to happen since the couple had just been in Arizona with Nicole’s family for the holidays and had always stated she wanted her family by her side in celebration of this special day.

On 1/16, Nicole was surprised when Chris asked if she wanted to go hiking. Nicole jumped at the chance since this is not one of Chris’ favorite activities. They quickly got dressed and headed to Runyon Canyon in Los Angeles. Nicole took Chris on a trail that is a little more intimidating and only a few people hiking, vs hundreds. It was much more of an intimate hike, to say the least, only running into two other hikers.

Nicole led the charge and Chris would constantly say babe stop, let’s take a picture, however, Nicole just wanted to get to the top of the hill, so kept going. Chris asked again and Nicole got a little suspicious since she is usually the one asking to take pictures not him. She looked down at him a few yards below him on the trail and didn’t see a ring box in his pocket, and kept going. Then on the third request, she finally stopped, to take the picture, and that is when Chris got down on one knee and proposed. Nicole and Chris both called their families but no one answered their calls. They completed their hike and Chris told Nicole they were headed to the Marina for a little getaway.

They then headed to the Ritz Carlton in Marina Del Rey where she was overwhelming surprised with both of their families.

Gray & Gold Wedding at The Croft | Videographer Phoenix

Gray & Gold Wedding at The Croft | Videographer Phoenix

How They Met:

As told by Aubrey: We met in high school a long time ago – each of us were playing sports and we only crossed paths on the school bus on the way to our games. We never really knew each other then, but knew of each other.
In 2011, I (Aubrey) played softball at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Kayvon played baseball at Kansas State University. When we would come home from college for the holidays, we’d always see each other at the gym and catch up.

Kayvon graduated from Kansas State University in 2012 and was drafted by the Oakland A’s. His spring training was then in Phoenix and I had just moved home after graduating from UNCG. Kayvon was still preparing for his second professional season when we started working out together. He found it hard to find people to play catch with him and of course I loved doing it! It went from playing catch and working out, slowly to hanging out and watching movies. We just haven’t separated since! In 2014, Kayvon was offered the opportunity to coach baseball at his college (in Manhattan, Kansas!) while getting his MBA. He asked if I wanted to go and the rest is history!

The Proposal:

Kayvon knew for months that his family, and Aubrey’s family and grandparents would be coming for his graduation from grad school. The two have a French Bulldog named Bruce Wayne, that they just are in love with. Kayvon had Aubrey’s mom make him a shirt that says, “Mom, will you marry my dad?”

On the day, Aubrey was running around their apartment trying to clean up as they had company coming and staying with them Kayvon yelled to Aubrey to come into their office and look at Bruce. As soon as she figured out what the shirt said, and what was going on, Kayvon was on one knee. This instantly became Aubrey’s favorite day ever.

How They Met:

Lauren loves to tell the story, so we will share her version:
I (Lauren) think it’s funny because God had to try multiple times for us to get together before it stuck.

1) We “first met” at a mutual friend’s house after an ASU Football game. Brandon came over to see his old friend while he was on a trip for work. At this time, I didn’t know Brandon was a working professional, so I found it very odd some guy would show up to this in a nice suit. (everyone else was in T-shirts). I also found him to be aloof, answering in one-word answers and thought he was a huge jerk.

Later, we re-connected on Facebook after we had so many mutual friends in common. He was in town again for work and took me out to a dinner and movie. The rest is history!

2) BUT a year before that, we were both at a political conference in DC. I have several pictures that I took with my friends, and Brandon is in the background of A LOT of them. I also talked with about 5 of his co-workers, one of which even made a comment about Brandon and how he was from Arizona.

3) BUT TWO YEARS before that, we were both at the same political conference. Brandon somehow got roped into dressing up as Ben Franklin for his work to take pictures with people. One of those people included me–smiling next to Brandon/Ben Franklin, having no idea I was standing next to my future husband.

The Proposal:

Throughout college, Lauren did some modeling for extra cash. Brandon called her agent ahead of time and scheduled a “gig” for her.

She was all dressed up with my makeup and hair done. The first part seemed like a legitimate job. Then they headed over to Old Main, where she was told we would be spending a lot of extra time.

As they were snapping photos, Brandon comes up behind her! Then he got on one knee and pulled out a beautiful ring! Lauren was so excited!! Her entire immediate family then came running down to say congrats.
