How They Met:

Ashley and Brent both grew up in Phoenix on opposite sides of town. Their paths had never crossed until Ashley had recently moved back from Texas around the same time Brent had moved back from Washington. Ashley was out with her girlfriends and Brent was out with his guy friends to celebrate Cinco de Mayo on a Saturday afternoon.

Their paths crossed at The Lodge in Old Town Scottsdale where Brent was instantly drawn to Ashley’s group of friends. Ashley was a little standoffish and so Brent began to chat with her friends. It took a friendly game of pool table to break the ice and it seemed like they had met their match after one game turned to best out of 7. They were inseparable the rest of the night.

Ashley and Brent spent the following months getting to know each other and Ashley began to tell her friends that she had a boyfriend (an almost unbelievable fact after Ashley had reluctantly called anyone her boyfriend in over 7 years.)

She claims today that when you know you know. It was instant for both and they worked on establishing a relationship that would last a lifetime. Over the next year, they would fall in love with each other’s strengths and weakness and everything in between.

The Proposal:

After three and half years of dating, Ashley’s 30th birthday was approaching. She wanted to use the occasion to show her appreciation for everyone in her life and decided to throw a party to commemorate the event. While Ashley focused on preparing for the big day, Brent decided this would be the perfect opportunity for a memorable proposal.

As Ashley spent weeks planning the decorations and festivities, Brent was secretly leaving work early to pick out the perfect ring. As the party drew closer, Brent and Ashley spent late nights together decorating for the big celebration and making final preparations in their friend Stuart’s renovated Firehouse.

The party was amazing. A few details included rum slushy machines, a bartender, a food truck, and hanging photos of Ashley’s life with her friends and family. Ashley even put her mother’s first car, a 1966 Mustang on display right above the dance floor.

Halfway through the party, Brent turned down the music and took the mic to thank everyone for coming, but then he kept going. A scene worthy of The Bachelor played out in the middle of the dance floor as the single ladies of the party were lined up with Brent holding a single rose. In a mock Final Rose ceremony, Brent laid out his feelings for Ashley in front of their family and friends before getting on one knee and proposing. Ashley said yes, and the rest of the night was a dance party that no one will ever forget.
